Update: HP's Slate Tablet is Alive & Well

UPDATE: Now, it seems that HP is not going to release the Slate as a consumer product but "for the enterprise."  Engadget reported that while speaking at the Fortune Brainstorm Tech conference, HP Personal Systems Group VP Todd Bradley said that the Slate will be "more customer-specific than broadly deployed."  Seems that news is also changing so who knows what other news will be coming....

Toshiba to release a Tablet in October

PC Authority reported that managing director of Toshiba Australia, Mark Whittard, showed off a prototype of a tablet that it plans to release in September/October (probably in select countries).  It will run Android OS and Windows 7 but no other specs were provided.  No word on pricing....

Apple beats estimates with surprising strong sales from iPad

After the stock market closed today, Apple announced their earnings - net income rose to $3.25 billion during the quarter ending June 30 (which is a 78% increase from a year ago).  Strong sales came from Mac computers, iPhone and, of course, the iPad.What is surprising is that Apple sold almost 3.3 million iPads during the quarter almost matching the number of Mac computers sold - 3.47...
